Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Dan Severn has been cut.
Slice fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Severn misses with a head kick.

Severn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slice's guard.
Severn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Slice is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Slice wants to stand but Severn is controlling the position.

Slice moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Slice fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Severn doesn't manage to clinch there - Slice circles away.
Severn throws a leg kick that is checked
enabling Slice to counter with a crisp jab.
Slice is looking to clinch but Severn is avoiding it.

and Slice counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Severn is defended easily by Slice.
Severn closes the distance and clinches up with Slice, looking for a takedown. Severn pushes Slice against the cage but Slice circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Severn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Severn is breathing heavily.
Slice lands a head kick. Severn smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Severn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Slice did well to prevent Severn getting side control.
Severn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Severn is working for a submission of some sort.
Severn prevents Slice from improving his position.
Severn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Severn controlling the action here.
Severn wants to take a breather but Slice is having none of it.
Severn moves into full mount! Slice won't be happy about that!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Severn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Severn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Slice rushes Severn and presses him up against the cage.
Severn tries to pull guard but Slice won't allow it.
Severn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Slice smiles and moves away.

Severn tries to clinch but Slice is having none of it.
Severn misses with a takedown attempt - Slice sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Severn shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Severn looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Slice!

Severn looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Slice is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Severn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Slice tries to lock up and control but Severn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Severn looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


It looks like Kimbo Slice has been cut.
Slice keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Severn is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Severn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slice was covering up waiting for the punch and Severn finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Severn controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Slice wants to stand but Severn is controlling the position.
Severn tries to free his leg and advance position but Slice is retaining full guard.

Severn throws a big right hand that misses.
Severn wants to pass the guard but Slice is keeping the position.
Severn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A lull in the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Slice manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Slice taking some punishment here, with Severn in his half guard.

Severn is trying to work for a kimura but Slice is defending well.
Severn tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Severn dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Slice swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kimbo Slice seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Severn has a takedown stuffed.
Slice misses with a takedown

so Severn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Severn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Severn advances position into side control!
Severn has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Slice!
Slice tries to reverse the position but Severn maintains control.
Slice takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Severn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Severn scoring with strikes but Slice is staying in there.
Severn content just to control the position here.
Severn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Severn looking to control and managing it successfully.

Severn looking to control but Slice is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Severn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Severn with the ground and pound from mount.
Slice tries to hold on but Severn postures up.
Severn controlling the pace for now.

Severn working for a guillotine from mount but Slice is in no mood to give up.

Severn is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Slice is surviving well by controlling Severn's body position as best he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Severn controlling the position easily from mount.
A nice elbow there by Severn.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dan Severn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Severn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
