Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tre Calbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Kern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Calbert might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Here we Go. Tre Calbert has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tre Calbert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Kern! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Kern. No joy for Calbert on that attempt. Kern shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kern was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kern trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kern swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Calbert is now in Kern's guard. A big mistake from Kern there, giving up the dominant position! Kern preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Calbert stops Kern from standing up. Calbert working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kern's head. Calbert trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kern's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kern can do anything to dispel that myth. Kern pushes Calbert off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Kern showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Calbert.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calbert has his takedown stuffed and Kern counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kern is just content to waste time from the top position. Calbert takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Kern trying to control but Calbert is working from the bottom. Calbert is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kern trying to control the position from guard on top but Calbert is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kern postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Calbert is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kern, into his guard. Kern is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Calbert stands up from Kern's guard - Calbert perhaps looking for a knockout. Kern throws a head kick but Calbert moves out of range.
Kern moves into range and clinches up with Calbert. Calbert drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kern gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tre Calbert. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kern using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Calbert has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kern has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Calbert is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Kern is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Kern tries for a takedown but Calbert manages to get underhooks.
Calbert is pressed up against the cage. Kern has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Calbert down to the mat. Calbert avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kern tries to score a power double leg takedown but Calbert sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kern somewhat. Kern throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Calbert was covering up waiting for the punch and Kern finishes the takedown easily into guard. Kern looks gassed! Kern postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Calbert is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kern, into his guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Calbert landing some decent shots from guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Calbert lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Kern wants to stand and escape but Calbert is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kern has his feet on Calbert's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Kern swings for the body but Calbert moves out of range.
Calbert fails with the takedown and Kern counters with a nice double leg into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Kern dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Kern tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Calbert paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kern throws a leg kick but Calbert moved away. Calbert goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kern shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kern throws a strike but Calbert rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Calbert throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kern works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kern pushes Calbert off and scrambles back to his feet.
Calbert uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kern.
No luck for Kern with that takedown attempt. Kern tries for a takedown but Calbert circles away easily and Calbert counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kern is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kern on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Kern pushes Calbert off looking to stand but Calbert dives back in and keeps control.
Calbert throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Calbert thows a huge punch but Kern dodges it nicely.
Calbert working over Kern with some ground and pound. Kern looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kern wants to get back to his feet.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Calbert scoring with strikes to the body and head. Kern manages to escape and get back to his feet! Calbert fails with the takedown and Kern counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kern controlling the pace. Kern throwing shots but Calbert is blocking nicely. Kern wants to work for an arm triangle but Calbert is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kern trying to control the action but Calbert is working from the bottom. Kern stalling away here and it's allowed Calbert to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Kern makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kern with a flurry of punches that miss.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kern feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kern trying to control but Calbert is working from the bottom. Calbert working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kern.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kern is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kern trying to control the position from guard on top but Calbert is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kern forces his way into half guard. Kern is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kern is keen to just control but Calbert is a slippery customer. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Kern showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Kern feints and as Calbert raises his hands in defense, Kern changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Kern loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kern throws and elbow that misses. Calbert uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kern's guard. Nice move by Calbert! Calbert missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kern avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kern wants to get back to his feet but Calbert is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Calbert is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Kern has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Calbert off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Calbert tries to clinch but Kern is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kern bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Aaron Kern has got the better of the ground game so far. Kern trying to control the action but Calbert is working from the bottom. Kern might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Calbert kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Kern is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Calbert is trying to escape and Kern transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Calbert is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kern! Very nice indeed!
