Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tazar Keegan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wanderlei Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Emelianenko lands a lovely overhand right. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Keegan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Emelianenko was covering up waiting for the punch and Keegan finishes the takedown easily into guard. Keegan wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving. Keegan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Keegan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Keegan throwing strikes but missing. Keegan throws a big right hand that misses. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Keegan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Keegan trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Keegan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Keegan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Emelianenko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Emelianenko wants it to stay on the feet. Keegan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Emelianenko regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Keegan. Keegan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Emelianenko looking to control.
Keegan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Keegan trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Keegan throws a big right hand that misses. Keegan lands a couple of decent looking shots. Keegan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Keegan wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving. Keegan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Keegan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Emelianenko, up you get! Tazar Keegan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Keegan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. No luck with that takedown attempt from Keegan. Keegan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Keegan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Keegan lands a decent elbow from side control. Emelianenko looks gassed! Emelianenko parries the strikes from Keegan easily there. Keegan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Emelianenko to escape.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Emelianenko can do anything to dispel that myth. Keegan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Emelianenko parries the strikes from Keegan easily there. Keegan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Emelianenko to escape.
Emelianenko takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Keegan landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Keegan throwing strikes but Emelianenko manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Keegan wants to get back to his feet but Emelianenko drags him back down. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Keegan throws Emelianenko to one side and escapes! Keegan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Emelianenko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Emelianenko working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Keegan. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tazar Keegan will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Tazar Keegan's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Keegan scores a takedown into full mount! Keegan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Keegan looking to ground and pound but Emelianenko is blocking nicely. Keegan is in the full mount, landing strikes.
It looks like Wanderlei Emelianenko has been cut. A nice elbow there by Keegan.
That has opened up Wanderlei Emelianenko's cut even more. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Keegan lands a big elbow. Emelianenko blocking the ground and pound. Keegan trying to control but he's not successful this time. Keegan looking to finish with strikes here!

The cut above Wanderlei Emelianenko's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Emelianenko is breathing heavily.

Wanderlei Emelianenko's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Wanderlei Emelianenko's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
