PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Klinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Accion Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Klinger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Accion Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klinger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sanchez.
Sanchez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Klinger closes the distance and clinches.
Klinger wants a takedown but no success here.
Klinger has Sanchez pressed against the cage.

Sanchez breaks from the clinch.
Klinger moves out of range of the strikes.
A head kick misses from Klinger.
Nice takedown defense from Sanchez. No joy for Klinger on that attempt.
Klinger uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sanchez.
Sanchez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sanchez is refusing to be controlled, as Klinger sits in half guard.

Klinger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Horrible takedown by Klinger or perhaps it was just good defense by Sanchez which made him look bad.

Sanchez misses with a looping left.
Klinger swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Klinger throws a head kick that misses.
Klinger throws a head kick but Sanchez moves out of range.
A solid body kick from Klinger.
Accion Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Klinger shoots in for a double leg but Sanchez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Klinger darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Klinger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Klinger wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy.

Klinger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanchez defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Klinger creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Sanchez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sanchez leaves Klinger with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Klinger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Klinger seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Well, if Klinger is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sanchez wants to control but Klinger is keeping busy.

Klinger is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Sanchez is looking to improve his position.
Klinger takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanchez throws a jab when Klinger was well out of range.
Klinger fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sanchez.

Sanchez tries to keep at a distance but Klinger has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sanchez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Klinger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sanchez walks away with a smile on his face. Klinger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Klinger is looking to clinch.

Klinger shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sanchez is trying to defend but Klinger finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Klinger is very close to passing his half guard.
Klinger tries to pass to full mount but Sanchez defends it.
Klinger perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Klinger wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is defending well.

Sanchez is staying active underneath Klinger, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sanchez is looking to control Klinger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sanchez avoid being mounted?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Klinger tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanchez smiles and moves away.

Klinger will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sanchez throws a hook to the side of Klinger's head but Klinger sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Sanchez gets back to full guard.
James Klinger is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Klinger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sanchez's head.

James Klinger showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Klinger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
