Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julian Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Filipe Martins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Oh Lets Do it. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julian Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Filipe Martins!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter tries to clinch up.
Martins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Martins fails to land the takedown.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter tries to bum rush Martins with a series of wild strikes but Martins uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carter misses with a takedown attempt

and Martins counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Carter is looking to escape.

Martins is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Martins is looking for a kimura but Carter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Martins to get the leverage.

Martins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Martins is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carter doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Martins.

Carter looks like he's trying to stand up.

Martins seems to be working for a kimura but Carter defends the submission attempt.

Carter makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Martins prevents Carter from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Martins is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Martins is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Filipe Martins dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carter.
Martins shoots and misses

and Carter counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Martins regains full guard. Nicely done.

Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Martins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Martins's legs - danger averted.

Martins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Martins has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Martins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Martins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Martins is tightening it up a little... Carter has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Carter reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Carter taps out! nice BJJ there by Martins!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Filipe Martins!
