Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Santana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Santana is looking to clinch. Sanchez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sanchez keeps the fight on the outside. Sanchez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santana, pushing him back against the cage. Sanchez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Santana is working for takedown but Sanchez is calmly controlling the position for now. Sanchez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Santana is trying to control Sanchez's posture but Sanchez avoids it. Santana manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Santana is controlling Sanchez's trapped leg to prevent Sanchez from advancing to side control. Santana is not content to let Sanchez control the position. Santana is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Santana is looking for a sweep. Sanchez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez throwing shots but Santana is blocking nicely. Sanchez not landing any meaningful shots this time. Santana blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sanchez.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Santana takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Santana fails with a takedown attempt. Sanchez works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Sanchez tries a head kick but it misses.
Santana looks to clinch and Sanchez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sanchez. Sanchez looks gassed! Santana is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sanchez rolls with it to try and escape but Santana cranks on the arm and Sanchez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
