PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ispa Nator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fisher is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Slayer- Bloodline. Nator has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Ispa Nator has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ispa Nator!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nator is defended easily by Fisher.
Nator is breathing heavily.
Fisher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nator pinned against the cage. Nator gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fisher wants to clinch.
Fisher plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Ispa Nator has been cut.
Nator rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fisher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Nator shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fisher manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fisher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher pulls Nator in close to his closed guard and prevents Nator from doing any damage or advancing position.

Fisher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Nator drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fisher manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nator has Fisher in his guard.
Nator wants to sweep here but Fisher controlling him for the moment.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nator swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, George Fisher just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fisher closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Fisher gets control of Nator's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fisher will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Fisher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nator looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fisher gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nator.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No luck for Fisher with that takedown attempt.
Fisher tries to clinch but Nator is having none of it.
Fisher throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Nator's head.
Fisher shoots in for a takedown but Nator shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fisher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nator is fending him off so far but Fisher persists. Nope, Nator circles away and we're back to standing.

Nator shoots in for a double leg but Fisher sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fisher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nator tries to avoid it but Fisher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nator to the ground. Nator escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nator is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fisher doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nator.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nator is thwarting Fisher's attempts to control the position.

Nator wants to take a breather but Fisher is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Nator counters with a series of strikes. Fisher will be more careful next time no doubt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ispa Nator will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Fisher lands with a shot to the body.

Fisher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fisher fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fisher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nator sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fisher somewhat.

and Fisher counters with a three punch combo that has Nator backing up. Nator nods at Fisher to acknowledge the strikes.

Ispa Nator seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fisher shoots for a takedown but Nator saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nator decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fisher to his feet.
Nator throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fisher's head.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nator checks a leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Fisher or perhaps it was just good defense by Nator which made him look bad.
Fisher shoots in and drives through. Nator sprawls well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fisher throws a head kick that misses.
Nator shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fisher as he jumps to the side.
Fisher fails with the takedown.
Nator looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fisher is fending him off so far but Nator persists. Nope, Fisher circles away and we're back to standing.

Fisher clinches with his opponent.

Nator wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Fisher wants a takedown but no success here.
Fisher trying to stall but Nator improves his position.
Nator on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Nator gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fisher regains guard.

Nator drops back looking for a leg! Fisher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fisher manages to kick Nator off! Nator jumps back into Fisher's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to George Fisher.
Well Fisher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
