PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldberg has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Goldberg!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz misses with a series of wild punches.
Ortiz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goldberg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ortiz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Goldberg looks gassed!

Ortiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Goldberg's head.
Ortiz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goldberg keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Goldberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortiz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goldberg thows a big elbow that misses.

Ortiz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goldberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ortiz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Ortiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goldberg accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Goldberg is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ortiz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goldberg manages to get himself to full guard.

and Ortiz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ortiz pushes down on Goldberg's leg and manages to get into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ortiz has Goldberg pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Goldberg manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
