Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Norberto da Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dimitry Lopescu!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
da Silva gets underhooks to prevent Lopescu's takedown attempt.
da Silva connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Dimitry Lopescu has been cut.
da Silva scores with a knee to the head.
Lopescu looks gassed!
Lopescu is trying to drag da Silva to the mat but da Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
da Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
da Silva clinches with his opponent.
da Silva lands a knee to the head.
That has opened up Dimitry Lopescu's cut even more.
da Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
da Silva rushes Lopescu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
da Silva escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lopescu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. da Silva tries to avoid it but Lopescu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag da Silva to the ground. da Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Norberto da Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitry Lopescu.
Lopescu drops his hands momentarily and da Silva needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Lopescu just on the top of the head. Lopescu drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Lopescu - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Norberto da Silva!
