Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Herman Wiliam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Francis Smythinton! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smythinton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Smythinton is stalling here.
Smythinton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smythinton throws a lazy right hand but Wiliam sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Wiliam tries to clinch up but Smythinton circles away and keeps his distance. Wiliam fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Smythinton lands a jab to the head.
Smythinton looks to land a right hand but Wiliam moved out of range. Smythinton closes the distance and pushes Wiliam back into the cage. Wiliam looking to stall.
Smythinton breaks the clinch.
Wiliam closes the distance but Smythinton moves to the side and Smythinton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Herman Wiliam has been cut. Wiliam keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smythinton. Some wild striking there from Smythinton.
Smythinton scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Wiliam really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Smythinton lands a nice shot that snaps Wiliam's head back.
Wiliam tries to clinch up. Smythinton throws a front kick that sends Wiliam stumbling back into the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Good shot there by Smythinton. A cross from Smythinton lands. Smythinton tests Wiliam's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wiliam closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wiliam shoots for a takedown but Smythinton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Wiliam is breathing heavily. Wiliam lands with a hook. Smythinton tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Smythinton throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Smythinton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smythinton throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Smythinton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smythinton digs a good body shot into Wiliam's ribs. Francis Smythinton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wiliam moves forwards but Smythinton connects with a nice, crisp jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Good standup being displayed there by Smythinton as he connects with a hook. Wiliam tries to move into range but Smythinton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Wiliam is rocked!
Herman Wiliam's cut is getting worse. Smythinton closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Wiliam! Smythinton dives in looking to finish! Wiliam is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Francis Smythinton!
