Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rory Wilcox! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hume shoots in for a takedown but Wilcox shows good takedown defense. Wilcox with a hook. Hume on the wrong end of a nice hook. Desmond Hume seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hume shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wilcox as he avoids it easily. Wilcox shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hume sprawls well. Hume wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilcox gets slowly back to his feet. Hume misses with a takedown attempt and Wilcox counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hume won't be happy with that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Desmond Hume. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hume is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wilcox with the ground and pound but Hume regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Wilcox is looking for a kimura but Hume is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wilcox to get the leverage. Wilcox thows a huge punch but Hume dodges it nicely.

Hume doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wilcox. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wilcox in particular looking to stall.

Hume on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hume tries to get out of the position. Wilcox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hume swivels though and keeps the full guard.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wilcox wants to stand and escape but instead Hume has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Very smooth. Wilcox is trying to ground and pound but Hume uses the momentary lack of control by Wilcox to regain half guard. Wilcox looks to land a strike but Hume avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Wilcox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hume works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
