The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira swats away the attempt to clinch by Tehana.
Tehana tries to clinch up but Ferreira circles away and keeps his distance.

Tehana instigates a clinch.
Ferreira is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Tehana misses with a knee strike.
Ferreira fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ferreira changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tehana fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Tehana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Tehana goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ferreira has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Tehana but great work by Ferreira.

Ferreira tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ferreira has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tehana takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tehana is looking to reverse the position.
Ferreira grinds an elbow into Tehana's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tehana is not content to let Ferreira control the position.
Tehana avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ferreira.
Tehana manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ferreira's best efforts.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Tehana counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Tehana is trying to work for a kimura but Ferreira is defending well.
Ferreira is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tehana wants to work for an arm triangle but Ferreira is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ferreira pushes Tehana off looking to stand but Tehana dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tehana is working for a kimura but Ferreira is defending it quite comfortably.
Tehana is thwarting Ferreira's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Ferreira shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tehana defends it nicely.

and Tehana counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tehana.
Ferreira wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Tehana successfully pulls guard.
Ferreira would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tehana seems keen to control Ferreira's posture.
Let's hope that Tehana has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Tehana escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ferreira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ferreira wants to stand but Tehana is controlling his posture from full guard.

Ferreira stands up and waves to Tehana to follow him.
Ferreira doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tehana counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ferreira's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rui Ferreira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tehana tries to free his leg and advance position but Ferreira is retaining full guard.

Ferreira is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tehana defends well.

Tehana drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Tehana seems to have locked his on tight now - Ferreira screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Tehana, as he picks up the win!
