The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Maia.
Maia gets caught flat footed, as Akiyama shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Maia will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Akiyama is posturing up here but Maia has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Akiyama tries to roll out but it's too tight and Akiyama has to tap! Slick submission there by Maia!
