Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Japheth Vasya ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Roufain! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vasya on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Roufain. Roufain obviously looking to wear him down.
Vasya looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Vasya shoots in for a takedown but Roufain shows good takedown defense. Vasya looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Roufain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roufain showed some decent athleticism there. Roufain trying to control the action but Vasya is working from the bottom. Vasya tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Roufain has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Vasya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vasya keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Roufain lands with some strikes.
It looks like Japheth Vasya has been cut. Roufain prevents Vasya from getting the reversal. Roufain has control of Vasya 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vasya regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Vasya is squirming around, avoiding Roufain's attempts to control the action. Vasya really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasya is working hard here to advance position. Vasya looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Roufain has the hooks in. Vasya is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Roufain is trying to stick to Vasya 's back but Vasya is turning into Roufain. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Roufain's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Vasya . Roufain tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Vasya misses with a takedown attempt and Roufain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Japheth Vasya . That's going to take a lot out of him. Roufain wants to control from the top but Vasya keeps moving. Vasya has his foot on Roufain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roufain works his way back into a safe position though. Vasya looking for a triangle here. Roufain is fighting it but it looks tight! Vasya pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Roufain is tapping out - this one is all over!
