PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Belmont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Drake is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Belmont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Drake!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Belmont blocks the body kick.
Drake tries a head kick but it misses.
Drake throws a wild body kick that Belmont sees coming a mile off.
Belmont throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drake's waist but Drake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belmont off to one side.
Drake keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Belmont throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Drake was covering up waiting for the punch and Belmont finishes the takedown easily into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belmont accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Drake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belmont. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Belmont throws a strike aimed at the side of Drake's head but Drake avoids it well.
Belmont misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Belmont decides to stand up, so the ref orders Drake to his feet.
Drake misses with a head kick.

Belmont drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Belmont.
