Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Shrader!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Muniz!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Muniz darts in and clinches Shrader up against the cage.
Muniz misses with a knee to the head.

Muniz drags the fight down to the ground.
Muniz keeping moving, preventing Shrader from controlling successfully.
Muniz seems keen to control Shrader's posture.
Shrader wants to control from the top but Muniz keeps moving.
Muniz managing to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Muniz wants to stand but Shrader is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shrader stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Muniz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Muniz keeping moving, preventing Shrader from controlling successfully.
Muniz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shrader!

Muniz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Shrader tries to clinch there but Muniz circles away.
Shrader wants to clinch but Muniz slips to the side

and Muniz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shrader won't be happy with that.
Shrader might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Shrader is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Muniz stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Muniz instigates a clinch.

Muniz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shrader can't fight it off and eventually Muniz manages to take the fight to the floor. Shrader looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shrader tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Muniz stands and steps away. Shrader gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Muniz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shrader as he jumps to the side.
Shrader really is a fat lump.
Shrader tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Muniz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shrader moves in looking to clinch but Muniz pushes him off.

and Muniz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Shrader on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shrader tries to get out of the position.
Shrader is trying to stand back up but Muniz is controlling him
Shrader tries to roll over but Muniz keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shrader is trying to maintain the position but Muniz is very close to passing his half guard.
Muniz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Shrader is trying to get back to full guard.
Shrader has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Muniz is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A head kick by Shrader misses

and Muniz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shrader!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Muniz stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Muniz dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Horrible takedown by Muniz or perhaps it was just good defense by Shrader which made him look bad.
Shrader defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Muniz.

Muniz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Shrader prevents the takedown attempt.
Nick Shrader has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Muniz.
Muniz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Shrader wants a takedown.
A frustrated look appears on Shrader's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Shrader jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Muniz walks away with a smile on his face. Shrader gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Muniz leaves Shrader with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Muniz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Muniz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shrader is trying to defend but Muniz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Shrader is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Muniz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Muniz escapes and gets back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Muniz.
Shrader shoots in but Muniz avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Muniz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shrader sprawls well initially but Muniz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Muniz is looking to take a break and control but Shrader is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Muniz stands up from half guard.
Shrader tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Muniz swivels and escapes.
Shrader tries to clinch up but Muniz circles away and keeps his distance.
Shrader fails in his attempt to clinch.

Shrader throws a head kick that misses.

and Muniz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shrader!
Shrader is looking to get to half guard.

Muniz working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Shrader looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Muniz! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Rafael Muniz!
