Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nolan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerm Mcsteals (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nolan Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerm Mcsteals! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcsteals doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith moves into range and clinches up with Mcsteals. Smith is trying to break the clinch but Mcsteals has him pressed against the cage. Mcsteals is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Smith tries for a takedown. No joy.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mcsteals gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Mcsteals tries to break the clinch but Smith is controlling the position. Smith blocks a punch to the side of the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith has a closed guard, preventing Mcsteals from standing up. Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mcsteals looks to clinch and Smith counters with a leg kick.

Smith dives in and grabs Mcsteals's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcsteals pushes down on Smith's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nolan Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mcsteals looks to clinch and Smith counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Smith is trying to stall.

Smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mcsteals just stands there and leans against the cage. Mcsteals has Smith pressed against the cage, preventing Smith from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Mcsteals is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Smith manages to pull guard.
Mcsteals tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom. Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mcsteals looks gassed! There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith drops back looking for a leg! Mcsteals is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mcsteals manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Mcsteals's guard. Mcsteals wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position. Smith stands and throws Mcsteals's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mcsteals wants to get back to his feet but Smith is dominant here and he's now got Mcsteals's back! Smith lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Smith off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Mcsteals is keeping busy.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mcsteals can do anything to dispel that myth. Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mcsteals defends it well. Mcsteals avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith is trying to control. Smith winds up and cracks Mcsteals with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Smith stops Mcsteals from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mcsteals wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side and Smith counters with a head kick. That will keep Mcsteals thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Mcsteals closes the distance but Smith moves to the side and Smith counters with a flying knee. Nice. Smith circles away from the clinch attempt and Smith counters with an outside leg kick.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smith circles away from the clinch attempt and Smith counters with a head kick. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mcsteals tries to clinch and Smith counters with a takedown into side control. Mcsteals is pushing Smith's head away, looking to escape. Smith manages to hold on to the position though. Smith decides to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nolan Smith dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mcsteals closes the distance but Smith moves to the side and Smith counters with a takedown into side control. Mcsteals is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mcsteals trying to remain calm as Smith controls from the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smith looks to land a left hand but Mcsteals moved out of range nicely. Mcsteals keeps the fight on the outside. Mcsteals tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smith counters by clinching up. Smith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mcsteals smiles and moves away.
Mcsteals darts in trying to clinch and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mcsteals! Smith won't let Mcsteals get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Smith is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mcsteals is surviving well by controlling Smith's body position as best he can. Jerm Mcsteals has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Smith looking to control but Mcsteals is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Nolan Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mcsteals tries to buck Smith off but Smith takes his back! Smith is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Mcsteals. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Mcsteals wants to get back to his feet. Mcsteals is keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Smith lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Mcsteals.
Smith is persistently looking for the submission but Mcsteals is defending it well.

Nolan Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mcsteals looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
And that's the end of the fight! Nolan Smith showed his dominance in that final round. Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
