PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ham Burglar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lashley Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randall has chosen pushing me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lashley Randall has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ham Burglar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lashley Randall!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burglar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Burglar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Burglar slips a jab and a cross from Randall.
Randall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Burglar.
Randall circles away from the clinch attempt.

Randall moves into the clinch successfully.
Randall crunches a lovely knee into Burglar's ribcage.
Randall stalling the fight.
Randall continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Burglar jumps guard but Randall stands there with Burglar around his waist. Burglar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Randall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Burglar.

and Randall counters with a big head kick but Burglar shrugs it off.

Randall decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randall takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Randall is pressing down on Burglar's thigh, looking to free his foot. Burglar is holding on for now.

Randall scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Randall trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Burglar working for a triangle but Randall defends it easily.

Burglar has his foot on Randall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Randall works his way back into a safe position though.
Randall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burglar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Burglar is breathing heavily.
Randall in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Randall controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Randall wants to control from the top but Burglar keeps moving.

Randall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burglar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Randall has managed to get both his arms back between Burglar's legs - danger averted.

Randall is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Burglar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Lashley Randall just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Randall counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Burglar's guard now.

Randall decides to stand up, so the ref orders Burglar to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Randall moves into the clinch.

Randall gets control of Burglar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Randall will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Randall connects with a nice short shot to Burglar's temple.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Burglar gets back to full guard.

Burglar is looking for a triangle but Randall pushes his legs off easily.
Randall distracts Burglar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Lashley Randall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Randall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
