Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BJ Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Jones!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Wood swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones misses with a body shot.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wood paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wood throws a leg kick which misses Jones's front leg but catches the back leg as Jones tries to avoid it.
Wood throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jones looks to land a right hand but Wood moved out of range.
Wood with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jones to score with a decent uppercut.
Wood with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Jones misses with a hook.
Wood jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Good leg kick by Wood there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Jones looks gassed!
Wood dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Wood throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Wood lands a big head kick that sends Jones tumbling to the mat! Wood takes a step backwards and waves Jones back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Jones is rocked!
It looks like Joseph Jones has been cut.
Wood goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jones misses with a looping right.
Jones takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Wood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wood lands with a right and another and another! Jones is in big trouble! Wood lands again and this time it's lights out for Jones! A quality knockout there for Wood.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). BJ Wood!
