Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alan Ashcroft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Jessup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Alan Ashcroft has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Alan Ashcroft seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alan Ashcroft! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Jessup! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jessup lands with an uppercut that bounces Ashcroft off the cage and back into rage. Ashcroft thows a left - swing and a miss! Jessup throws a right and a left that both miss. Ashcroft misses with a looping right. Ashcroft shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jessup is trying to defend but Ashcroft finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ashcroft is thwarting Jessup's attempts to control the position. Still in half guard, Ashcroft seems content to control. Jessup gets back to full guard.
Ashcroft tries to free his leg and advance position but Jessup is retaining full guard. Ashcroft sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jessup trying to keep a closed guard but Ashcroft is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jessup has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ashcroft is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jessup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jessup seems a little lost for a moment, as Ashcroft dominates the positioning. Ashcroft has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Ashcroft stands up. Jessup gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ashcroft counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Ashcroft drops an elbow to the side of Jessup's head. Ashcroft stops Jessup from getting back to his feet.
Ashcroft controlling the pace. Jessup is looking for a sweep. Ashcroft is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jessup pushes Ashcroft off but Ashcroft dives into side control.
Ashcroft is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jessup will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Ashcroft tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jessup trying to remain calm as Ashcroft controls from the top position. Jessup is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ashcroft is controlling him well. Jessup tries to buck Ashcroft off but Ashcroft is having none of it. Ashcroft working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ashcroft stands up and beckons Jessup to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jessup tries for a takedown but Ashcroft circles away easily and Ashcroft counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jessup! Ashcroft controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ashcroft really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ashcroft raining down shots from the mount! Ashcroft controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jessup fails with the takedown and Ashcroft counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ashcroft. Ashcroft controlling from the top position.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Alan Ashcroft just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Ashcroft throws a wild body kick that Jessup sees coming a mile off. Jessup misses with a low kick.
Jessup connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Nathan Jessup seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ashcroft slips a jab and a cross from Jessup.
Jessup misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jessup cracks a nice hook into Ashcroft's ribs. A jab from Ashcroft misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jessup gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ashcroft to score an easy takedown into full guard. Ashcroft controls from within his opponent's guard. Ashcroft gets to his feet - Jessup follows without any prompting. Jessup will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ashcroft avoids the head kick by Jessup.
Ashcroft drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ashcroft sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jessup's guard. Ashcroft working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jessup trying to hold on to Ashcroft's head to control him but Ashcroft postures up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ashcroft in particular looking to stall. Jessup looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Ashcroft is controlling the pace.
Jessup wants to get back to full guard. Ashcroft is pressing down on Jessup's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jessup is holding on for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ashcroft is working hard here to advance position. Jessup is looking to control Ashcroft's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jessup avoid being mounted?
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A slow jab from Jessup misses its intended target. A swing and a miss from Jessup. Ashcroft shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ashcroft showed some decent athleticism there. Ashcroft is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jessup is looking to control Ashcroft's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jessup avoid being mounted? Ashcroft prevents Jessup from improving his position. Ashcroft stalling. Ashcroft seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jessup for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ashcroft is in close to Jessup's body, working some short punches and elbows. Jessup is trying to control the position but Ashcroft postures up. Jessup can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ashcroft controls the pace. Jessup is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

He's landed in Jessup's guard. Jessup takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ashcroft showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ashcroft pushing down on Jessup's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Still in half guard, Ashcroft seems content to control. Alan Ashcroft is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ashcroft stands up out of the half guard. Jessup misses with a takedown and Ashcroft counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jessup won't be happy with that. Alan Ashcroft has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Jessup. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ashcroft taking a breather here. Jessup tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ashcroft wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ashcroft controlling from side mount. Nathan Jessup has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jessup is being controlled here. Jessup is trying to get back to half guard. Alan Ashcroft overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ashcroft has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ashcroft controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jessup looking for a triangle here. Ashcroft is fighting it but it looks tight! Jessup pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ashcroft is tapping out - this one is all over!
