PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hulk Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Guttierez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The real American. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jaime Guttierez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulk Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaime Guttierez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guttierez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hogan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hogan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hogan tries to free his leg and advance position but Guttierez is retaining full guard.

Guttierez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hogan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Guttierez defends it well.
Hogan uses his free foot to push down on Guttierez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Guttierez.
Guttierez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Guttierez tries to hold on but Hogan pushes him away.
Hogan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hogan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Guttierez manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hogan decides to stand back up. Hogan steps back and let's Guttierez get back to his feet.
Guttierez takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Hogan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hogan circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hogan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guttierez was covering up waiting for the punch and Hogan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hogan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hogan wants to control from the top but Guttierez keeps moving.
Hogan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guttierez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hogan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Guttierez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hulk Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hogan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hogan is looking to take a break and control but Guttierez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
