Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Masaldo Laitamos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laitamos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Monson tries to clinch up.

Monson rushes Laitamos and presses him up against the cage.
Laitamos dodges an elbow strike from Monson.

Monson breaks from the clinch.

Laitamos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Monson did well to prevent Laitamos getting side control.
Laitamos wants to take a breather but Monson is having none of it.
Monson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Laitamos is fighting to break Monson's control of his arms but Monson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Laitamos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Laitamos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Laitamos postures up in Monson's guard and throws a big left but Monson blocks it.
Laitamos connects with a couple of short punches.

Laitamos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Monson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Laitamos has Monson in his guard.

Laitamos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Monson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Monson prevents Laitamos from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monson won't allow Laitamos to sweep him here.
Laitamos wants to stand and escape but Monson is having none of it.
Laitamos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Laitamos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Monson is trying to defend but Laitamos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Laitamos is keen to just control but Monson is a slippery customer.

Monson moves in looking to clinch but Laitamos pushes him off.

Laitamos tries to advance to mount but can't.
Monson is not content to let Laitamos control the position.

Laitamos tries for a kimura but Monson is defending well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Laitamos has a takedown stuffed.

Laitamos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Laitamos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Laitamos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Monson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Monson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Laitamos kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Monson is not content to let Laitamos control the position.

Laitamos has hold of Monson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Monson seems comfortable defending it but Laitamos has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Monson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Monson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Laitamos couldn't care less - he's delighted!
