Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and greg flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hunter Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, greg flynn!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
flynn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nash.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nash is defended easily by flynn.

Nash gets caught flat footed, as flynn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
flynn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
flynn wants to get up but he can't break Nash's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
flynn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Nash is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nash wants to sweep but no luck.
flynn thows a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
flynn stays in close to Nash's body and controls the position.
Nash is looking to stand up but flynn isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

flynn drives through with a takedown into guard.
flynn has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nash is proving hard to escape from.
Nash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst flynn is controlling him.
flynn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
flynn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

flynn is stalling in the full guard.
flynn trying to control but Nash is working from the bottom.
Nash wants to stand but flynn is controlling the position.
flynn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nash is breathing heavily.
Nash utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nash tries to clinch but flynn moves out of range.

flynn gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nash really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nash stalling in the clinch but flynn improves position.

Nash decides to pull guard.
Nash has a closed guard, preventing flynn from standing up.
Nash avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Nash wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
flynn controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

flynn trying to control the position from guard on top but Nash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst flynn is controlling him.

A head kick misses from Nash.
Nash wants to clinch but flynn slips to the side

and flynn counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

flynn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

flynn forces Nash back against the cage and clinches.
flynn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nash walks away with a smile on his face. flynn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

flynn shoots in and bounces Nash off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
flynn wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.
Nash wants to stand up but flynn is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
flynn sitting in guard here, content to control.
Nash utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nash looking for a sweep. Not yet Nash, not yet.
flynn working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nash's head.
flynn lands a couple of digs.
flynn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nash can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as flynn controls the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nash is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
flynn is looking to work some ground and pound but Nash has wrist control.

Nash has his feet on flynn's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

flynn clinches.
flynn avoids a wild elbow strike from Nash.

flynn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Nash shoots and misses

and flynn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nash's guard now.
flynn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nash is keeping the position for now.
flynn won't allow Nash to get back to his feet.
flynn tries to stand but Nash is controlling from the bottom.
Nash tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst flynn is controlling him.
flynn wants to pass the guard but Nash is keeping the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Nash has flynn up against the cage in a clinch.

flynn pulls guard effortlessly.
Nash is looking to stand up but flynn won't let him.
Nash will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nash trying to control but flynn is working from the bottom.
flynn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nash is one step ahead there.

flynn working for a triangle but Nash defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
flynn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nash!

Nash slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
flynn trying to control from half guard but Nash is working away.
Nash is pressing down on flynn's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
flynn trying to move into half guard but instead Nash has managed to sweep!

Nash scoring with some ground and pound.
Nash wants to control from the top but flynn keeps moving.
flynn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nash is one step ahead there.

Nash has gone for a leg lock! flynn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nash's guard.

flynn looking to sit in guard and control but Nash gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
flynn trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nash showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Nash sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed flynn's guard.
Hunter Nash has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
flynn is staying active underneath Nash, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nash is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for flynn!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
flynn wants to hold on but Nash pushes him away.
greg flynn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nash lands a big elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter Nash showed his dominance in that final round.
Well flynn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
