PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Goreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Norman Goreman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goreman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turner did well to prevent Goreman getting side control.
Turner is trying to stand up here but Goreman is controlling him well.

Turner is defending against the submission attempts here by Goreman.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner is refusing to be controlled, as Goreman sits in half guard.
Goreman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Goreman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Goreman prevents Turner from standing back up.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Turner fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Turner takes a swing at Goreman's ribcage but misses.

Turner misses with a two punch combination.
Turner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Turner scores with a three punch combo!
Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Goreman moves away.

Turner throws a lazy right hand but Goreman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Turner fails with the takedown

and Goreman counters with a shoot takedown. Turner fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goreman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Turner pushes Goreman off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Goreman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Goreman.
Turner is breathing heavily.
Goreman tries to free his leg and advance position but Turner is retaining full guard.
Goreman trying to control the position from guard on top but Turner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Turner looks to land a body kick but Goreman moved away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Turner will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Goreman jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Turner manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Turner tries to escape but Goreman is in control.

Goreman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goreman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goreman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Turner has escaped the position, nice work there.

Turner throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Turner. Goreman shrugs it off though.
Turner lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Goreman at a distance.

Goreman blocks a head kick by Turner.

Turner drives through with a takedown into guard.
Turner pushes down on Goreman's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Turner seems to be working for a kimura but Goreman defends the submission attempt.
Goreman wants to improve his position but Turner is controlling well.
Turner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Goreman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Goreman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Turner is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Goreman is just riding it out for now. Turner eventually gives up the hold.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Goreman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Goreman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Turner is looking to stand up but Goreman isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Norman Goreman will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Turner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goreman.

Goreman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Turner pushes Goreman off and gets back to his feet.
Goreman takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Goreman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Turner gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Turner wants to stand up but Goreman is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goreman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Turner pushes Goreman off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Turner connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Turner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Turner closes the distance and clinches.
Goreman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Turner smiles and moves away.
Goreman avoids the head kick by Turner.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Goreman moves out of range of the body kick from Turner.
Goreman swats away the attempt to clinch by Turner.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Goreman blocks a head kick by Turner.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kevin Turner.
I think Turner has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
