The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kooneman tries to bum rush Merriweather with a series of wild strikes but Merriweather uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Merriweather shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kooneman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Merriweather.
Kooneman dodges the punch combination from Merriweather.
Merriweather is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kooneman.
Merriweather swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kooneman has his takedown stuffed
and Merriweather counters with a shoot takedown. Kooneman fights it but they end up in guard.
Kooneman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Merriweather puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
