Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Crawford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Batcher! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batcher avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crawford looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Batcher trying to hold on to Crawford's head to control him but Crawford postures up.
Crawford landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Batcher has hold of Crawford's hands but Crawford slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Batcher is trying to stand back up but Crawford is controlling him
Batcher is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Crawford pulls his head out easily. Crawford stops Batcher from getting back to his feet.
Crawford trying to advance position but Batcher counters by regaining guard. Crawford is looking to work some ground and pound but Batcher has wrist control. Crawford thows a big elbow that misses. Crawford scoring with some ground and pound. Batcher bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crawford's guard. Batcher trying to control the position from guard on top but Crawford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Batcher postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batcher wants to get up but he can't break Crawford's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Crawford wants to get back to his feet but Batcher is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Batcher drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Batcher jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Crawford wants to get back to his feet but Batcher is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Batcher tries to stand but Crawford is controlling from the bottom. Batcher looks gassed! Crawford is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Crawford tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Batcher was well out of range. Poor timing from Crawford.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Batcher doesn't succeed with the takedown and Crawford counters with a nice double leg into guard. Crawford is looking to work some ground and pound but Batcher has wrist control. Crawford cracks Batcher with a solid left hand. Crawford looking to pass the guard. Batcher pushes a forearm under Crawford's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Crawford is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
