Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Render (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Render! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Rua! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A punch combination from Rua misses. Rua doesn't manage to clinch there - Render circles away.
Rua tries to clinch but Render is having none of it. Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Render swats him away and circles back towards the center. Render scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Render throws a combination that misses and Rua counters with a left to the body. Render throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Render finishes the takedown easily into guard. Render with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Render with a flurry of punches that miss. Render stands up from Rua's guard - Render perhaps looking for a knockout. Rua is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Crunch! Render slams his shin into Rua's torso. Rua is looking to clinch. Render shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Render knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rua on the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Render postures up.

Render stands up from Rua's guard - Render perhaps looking for a knockout. Rua moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Render fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but Render persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Render looks to land a strike but Rua avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Render stands up from Rua's guard - Render perhaps looking for a knockout. Render blocks a head kick by Rua.
Render swats away the attempt to clinch by Rua. Rua looks to land a combination but Render avoids it well. Render cracks Rua with a good jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Rua. Rua moves out of range as Render strikes. Rua tried to score with a low kick but Render checks it. Render shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Render stops Rua from getting back to his feet.
Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Render is working away from the top position though. Render seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Render is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rua has managed to free his arm - good work. Render stands up out of the half guard. Render throws a leg kick but Rua checks it. Rua takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rua throws a right and a left that Render avoids nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Render scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Render decides to stand and escape the position. Render looks for the body kick but Rua saw that one coming. Rua tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Andre Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Render throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Render changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rua looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Render tries to advance to mount but can't. Render is breathing heavily. Rua regains half guard. Render not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rua blocking the ground and pound attempt from Render. Rua wants to control but Render is keeping busy and won't allow it. Render escapes and gets back to his feet. Render closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Render lands in his opponent's guard. Render wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Render with a flurry of punches that miss. Render is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Render stands and steps away. Rua gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rua ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rua throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Render darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rua trying to hold on to Render's head to control him but Render postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rua gets back to full guard.
Render throwing strikes but missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Render dominated that round. That's time! Render's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Render shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rua is trying to defend but Render finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Render is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rua looking for submissions off his back. Render stands up and beckons Rua to join him on the feet. Render misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rua throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nice shot by Rua.
That's one minute gone in the round. Render throws a hook but Rua avoids it easily. A slow jab from Render misses its intended target. Rua slips a jab and a cross from Render.
Render throws an overhand right that lands on Rua's shoulder, as Rua tries to avoid the shot. Render showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rua.
No joy there for Render, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chris Render is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rua keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Render. Render lands with a right hand. Render scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Render looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Rua is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Render asserts his dominance and retains side control. Render postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Render looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rua gets back to full guard.
Rua is breathing heavily. Rua looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rua trying to keep a closed guard but Render is proving a slippery customer.
Render tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard. Chris Render overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rua is trying to control the position but Render postures up. Rua is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Render wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Render not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Render trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Render looking to pass the guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Render gets a takedown into half guard. Render is looking to take a break and control but Rua is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Render stands up and beckons Rua to join him on the feet. A thudding body kick lands there by Render!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Render lands with a nice combination. Rua backs away looking to recover. Render rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rua moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Render throws a right and a left that both miss. A slow jab from Render misses its intended target. A head kick misses from Rua. Rua needs to keep his hands up - Render had a free shot at his head there. Rua cracks Render with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Rua misses with a low kick. Render decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Render stands up out of the half guard. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Rua - that will leave a mark!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Render misses with a double jab
and Rua counters with a head kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Render takes a jab right on the kisser.
Render misses with a hook. A combination from Rua does no damage. Donk. Rua catches Render right on the button with a cross. Rua misses with a series of wild punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Render dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Rua sizes up Render with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Rua wants to clinch up but Render keeps it at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Render scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Rua takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fighters circling - Render throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Render scores a takedown into full mount! Render lands with some strikes. Render landing punches.

Rua is bucking up trying to escape but Render cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Render lands with some strikes. Render landing strikes from the mount and Rua is in trouble! Render breaks from Rua's wrist control and lands an elbow. Render has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rua's face.
Rua wants to control but Render is having none of it. Rua is trying desperately to improve position. The referee warns Rua that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Render jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rua manages to avoid the submission attempt. Rua is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Render tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Render stands up and beckons Rua to his feet. Render stalks Rua and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rua's face. Rua staggers backwards, shaken. Rua wants to clinch. Render gets a takedown into half guard. Rua is looking to control Render's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rua avoid being mounted? Render wants to stand up but Rua is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rua manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Render gets to his feet - Rua follows without any prompting. Rua throws a leg kick which misses Render's front leg but catches the back leg as Render tries to avoid it. Rua throws a series of punches but Render avoids them all with ease. Rua blocks the body kick.
A slow jab from Render misses its intended target. Render scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Render has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Rua doesn't manage to clinch there - Render circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Render closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Rua tries to get to full guard but Render has control of the leg. Render trying to control the pace. Rua is trying to control but can't.
Render decides to stand and escape the position. Render keeps the fight on the outside. Rua misses with a jab, cross combination.

Rua throws a hook to the side of Render's head but Render sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Andre Rua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! And that's the end of the fight! Chris Render showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Render, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
