The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niinivaara is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
It looks like Tauno Karvaranne has been cut.
Niinivaara defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Karvaranne.
Tauno Karvaranne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Niinivaara throws a right and a left that both miss.
A left lands for Niinivaara.
Niinivaara connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Karvaranne takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Karvaranne shoots in for a takedown but Niinivaara shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Karvaranne tries to clinch up but Niinivaara circles away and keeps his distance.
Niinivaara just misses with a punch to the body.
Karvaranne shoots for a takedown but Niinivaara saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tauno Karvaranne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karvaranne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Niinivaara defends it nicely.
Niinivaara lands a really nice looking cross but Karvaranne seems unphased.

Niinivaara stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Niinivaara wants it to stay on the feet.

Niinivaara lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Niinivaara connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Karvaranne momentarily.

Niinivaara drops Karvaranne with a beautiful combination! Karvaranne stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Niinivaara is looking for the KO!
Niinivaara darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Karvaranne's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Niinivaara before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
