Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Dee Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Santos! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt. Nice uppercut there from Santos. Jay Dee Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santos stalks Penn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Penn's face. Penn staggers backwards, shaken. Penn looks for a takedown but Santos sprawls well. Penn fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Santos's waist but Santos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side. Santos scores with a punch to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Santos dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Penn is breathing heavily. A slapping leg kick lands for Santos.
Santos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Santos is taking a breather. Penn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos wants to pass the guard but Penn is defending well. Santos sitting and controlling from the half guard. Santos blocks the strikes from Penn.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Despite being in the dominant position, Juan Santos just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Santos thuds his right hand into Penn's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Santos lands a jab-cross combination. Penn tries for a takedown but Santos circles away easily and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Santos moves nicely into side control. Penn tries to improve position but can't. Santos is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Penn will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Santos advances nicely into full mount. Santos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is in a horrible position here. Santos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Penn is looking to get to half guard. Santos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Santos landing strikes, looking to finish! Santos controlling from the full mount. Penn throwing hammer fists to the chest of Santos. What's that going to do exactly? Santos controlling from the full mount. Penn is trying to escape the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Santos fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

I looks like Santos might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Santos is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Santos decides to stand up. Santos throws a right and a left that Penn avoids nicely. Santos cracks Penn with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Santos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Santos decides to stand back up. Santos steps back and let's Penn get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Santos lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Penn with a lazy takedown attempt and Santos counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos gets to his feet. Penn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Penn has his takedown stuffed and Santos counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santos is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Penn's half guard. Penn tries to get to full guard but Santos has control of the leg. Santos stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos decides to return to a standing position. Penn scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Santos has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Santos postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Penn looks a forlorn figure.
Juan Santos has got the better of the ground game so far. Santos controlling from mount. Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Penn is trying to escape the mount.

Juan Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Penn shoots and misses and Santos counters with a nice double leg into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Santos's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos stands and steps away. Penn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Santos trying to control from the bottom.
Penn is looking to advance position but Santos won't allow it. Santos tries to roll over but Penn keeps him under control. Santos has his hands clasped together around Penn's back. He's all about the action. Penn not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Santos regains full guard. Nicely done. Santos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Penn manages to get himself to full guard.
Penn keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom. Penn striking off his back but it's not causing Santos any problems. Santos makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Santos postures up in Penn's guard and throws a big left but Penn blocks it. Santos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Penn's head. Penn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Santos looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Penn misses with a takedown and Santos counters with a low kick, right behind Penn 's knee. Jay Dee Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Santos scores with a one two! Penn had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Santos scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Penn tries for a takedown but Santos circles away easily and Santos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Penn! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Santos controlling from mount. Santos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Santos wants to control the pace but Penn is squirming around nicely. Penn is trying desperately to improve position. Santos cracks Penn with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Santos prevents Penn from getting the reversal. Penn throwing hammer fists to the chest of Santos. What's that going to do exactly? Juan Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Santos controlling his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Juan Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
