Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Findley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heath Smith! The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Findley defends it nicely. Smith tries to land a leg kick but Findley saw it coming and moves away.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Findley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Findley.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Findley throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith lands with a nice body punch. Some wild striking there from Smith.
Jab, jab by Smith - just one landing. Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mickey Findley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith. Findley throws a combination that misses and Findley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mickey Findley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Smith. Findley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Findley is looking to get back to full guard here but Smith has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Findley tries to get back to half guard but can't. Findley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground. Findley takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Findley is trying to stand but he's just given Smith his back. Findley is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Smith trying to control momentarily.
Smith has good solid back control here. Smith is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Findley defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Findley defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Findley is really stuck here.
Smith gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith tries to get the hooks in deep but Findley pushed the leg off. Smith cracks Findley with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Findley from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Findley is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Smith missing with strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Findley is trying to get back to his feet but Smith has full control of the position and if anything, Findley has just worked his way into a worse spot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Findley is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Smith thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Findley pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.

Findley throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Smith manages to pass to side control. Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Findley is defending well. Heath Smith has got the better of the ground game so far. Smith lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Findley gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Findley is trying to stand. Findley working to try and regain half guard.
Findley tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Smith takes Findley's back. Smith slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Smith is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Smith gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Smith gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Smith apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Danga de danga de dang - Smith scores with a four punch combination! Mickey Findley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Findley cracks Smith with an open hand slap. Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Findley circles away quickly and effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Findley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Findley as he jumps to the side. Findley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Findley's guard. Smith works a leg free and moves into half guard. Smith not landing any meaningful shots this time. Findley pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Findley can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smith lands a nice shot to the head. Smith lands a big elbow. Smith wants to finish this one by submission but Findley is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith. Findley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Findley tries to get out of the position. Smith punishing his opponent with strikes. Findley is trying to escape the mount.
Smith pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Smith takes Findley's back. Smith looking to break Findley's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Findley remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Smith will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Findley controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. A lull in the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith connects with a big shot to the side of Findley's head.
Smith scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Findley is looking for a way out. Smith lands an elbow to the side of the head. Smith looking for the RNC. Smith is breathing heavily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Findley covers up after that shot from Smith.
Smith keeps control of the position easily here as Findley tries to buck him off.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smith lands a heavy elbow. Smith tries to control but Findley wriggling away. Smith with shots to the head and body - Findley looks very uncomfortable down there. Smith controlling his opponent. Findley wants to control but Smith is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Smith extends the arm and Findley is forced to tap!
