Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jari Nurmelainen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Jee! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jee misses with a series of wild punches.
Nurmelainen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Jee keeping moving, preventing Nurmelainen from controlling successfully. Jee keeping full guard, as Nurmelainen tries to pass. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jee can do anything to dispel that myth. Jee keeping moving, preventing Nurmelainen from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nurmelainen looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nurmelainen misses with a few strikes there.
Jee fails to land with a series of punches.
Jee just misses with a punch to the body.
Jee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jee throws a body punch but Nurmelainen moves out of range. Nurmelainen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jee as he avoids it easily. Nurmelainen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jee swivels and escapes. Jee lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Jari Nurmelainen has been cut. Horrible takedown by Nurmelainen or perhaps it was just good defense by Jee which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jari Nurmelainen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nurmelainen was well out of range. Poor timing from Jee. Nurmelainen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jee tries to avoid it but Nurmelainen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jee to the ground. Jee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nurmelainen is breathing heavily. Nurmelainen shoots in but no luck this time. Jee Rushes Nurmelainen and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Nurmelainen is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Jee Piles on the pressure and Nurmelainen crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Jee!
