Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Alf Histon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexey Ignashov! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ignashov throws a head kick that half lands.
Histon drives through with a takedown into guard. Histon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Histon is stalling in the full guard. Ignashov wants to get back to his feet but Histon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Histon passes into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Histon is working for a kimura but Ignashov is defending it quite comfortably.
Still in half guard, Histon seems content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Histon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Histon sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ignashov tries to roll over but Histon keeps him under control. Histon not doing much here.
Histon escapes and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ignashov wants to clinch. Histon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ignashov tries to roll over but Histon keeps him under control. Ignashov has a hand on Histon's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Histon takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Histon stands up from mount. Strange move. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alf Histon dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Histon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ignashov sprawls well. Ignashov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Histon gets slowly back to his feet. Histon misses with a straight right. Ignashov tries to clinch up but Histon circles away and keeps his distance. Alf Histon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ignashov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Histon wants to pass the guard but Ignashov is keeping the position. Histon wants to control from the top but Ignashov keeps moving. Histon content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Histon is pushing down on Ignashov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ignashov is fighting to maintain full guard but Histon has managed to sneak the leg through. Histon maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Ignashov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Histon has cracked it and Ignashov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Histon!
