Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Little Grasshopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Little Grasshopper has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Little Grasshopper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Santos! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grasshopper tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grasshopper to the ground. Grasshopper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Grasshopper throws out a loose jab but Santos uses good head movement to avoid it. Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Grasshopper is looking to improve his position but Santos isn't that keen on the idea. Santos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Grasshopper is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Grasshopper and Santos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Grasshopper gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Grasshopper regains full guard. Nicely done. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos wants to control from the top but Grasshopper keeps moving. Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Grasshopper managing to control the position. Santos trying to control but Grasshopper is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos prevents Grasshopper from getting back to his feet. Grasshopper seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Grasshopper wants to sweep here but Santos controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Santos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Grasshopper closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Grasshopper lands in his opponent's guard. Grasshopper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard. Grasshopper trying to control but Santos is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grasshopper is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Grasshopper passes into half guard. Santos wants to control but Grasshopper is keeping busy.
Grasshopper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Grasshopper is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Santos still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Santos has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Grasshopper manages to get back to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos wants to control but Grasshopper is keeping him busy. Grasshopper manages to get to full guard.
Grasshopper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Santos trying to control but Grasshopper is working from the bottom. Santos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Santos might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grasshopper kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Grasshopper has Santos pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Santos stops Grasshopper from standing up. Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grasshopper swivels though and keeps the full guard. Grasshopper kicks Santos off and gets to his feet. Grasshopper fails in his attempt to clinch. Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Grasshopper counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Grasshopper is keen to just control but Santos is a slippery customer. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Grasshopper lands a nice short elbow. Grasshopper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Grasshopper not doing much here.
Grasshopper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Little Grasshopper dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Santos has his takedown stuffed and Grasshopper counters with a nice double leg into guard. Grasshopper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard. Santos is controlling Grasshopper's posture. Santos looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Grasshopper passes into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Grasshopper swings around for an armbar but Santos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Grasshopper's guard. Grasshopper pushes Santos off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Grasshopper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Santos napping and manages to drive through into side control! Grasshopper controlling from side mount. Grasshopper trying to control the position but Santos is working away. Santos takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Santos is working to avoid the ground and pound but Grasshopper connects with a decent elbow. Grasshopper trying to control the action but Santos is working from the bottom. Grasshopper in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grasshopper cracks Santos with a big elbow. Santos is trying to get back to half guard. Grasshopper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Grasshopper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Santos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Santos takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Grasshopper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Little Grasshopper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos tries to get back to half guard but can't. Grasshopper is staying tight to Santos's torso, preventing him from escaping. Santos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Grasshopper tries to kick Santos off but Santos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Santos looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Santos prevents Grasshopper from standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Grasshopper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Grasshopper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Grasshopper pulls Santos in close to his closed guard and prevents Santos from doing any damage or advancing position. Grasshopper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Santos trying to control but Grasshopper is working from the bottom. Grasshopper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Santos is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Little Grasshopper dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Grasshopper counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Grasshopper jabbing away but nothing is landing. Santos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Grasshopper gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Santos prevents Grasshopper from standing back up.
Santos seems to be working for a kimura but Grasshopper defends the submission attempt. Santos is trying to control the action in half guard but Grasshopper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Grasshopper keeps control of the position for the meantime. Grasshopper wants to control but Santos is keeping busy and won't allow it. Santos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santos wants to work for an arm triangle but Grasshopper is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Santos wants to clinch and Grasshopper counters with a shoot takedown. Santos fights it but they end up in guard. Grasshopper is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Santos is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Santos has escaped and now he's on top! Grasshopper is adopting a defensive guard. Grasshopper keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully. Little Grasshopper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos trying to move into half guard but instead Grasshopper has managed to sweep! Grasshopper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. You can see the frustration on Santos's face as Grasshopper controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grasshopper lands some shots froms side control. Grasshopper staying calm. Santos tries to improve position but can't. Grasshopper cracks Santos with a big right hand but Santos just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Grasshopper just content to control the position. Grasshopper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Little Grasshopper just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Grasshopper looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. John Santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Santos strikes from the bottom but Grasshopper passes into mount!
And that's the end of the fight! Little Grasshopper showed his dominance in that final round. Well Grasshopper has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
