PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cung Liouz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liouz has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liouz tries to clinch up but Gomez circles away and keeps his distance.
Cung Liouz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomez connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Liouz to the floor! Gomez dives in looking for the finish!

It looks like Cung Liouz has been cut.
Still in half guard, Gomez seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Liouz is trying to stand up here but Gomez is controlling him well.
Gomez is tying to control. Liouz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Gomez moves nicely into side control.
Gomez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Liouz keeps working.
Liouz is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gomez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Liouz is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gomez lands a nice short elbow.
Gomez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Liouz tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gomez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Gomez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Liouz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gomez.
Gomez chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Gomez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Liouz misses with a series of wild punches.
Liouz moves in looking to clinch but Gomez pushes him off.
Liouz fails with the takedown.
Liouz doesn't manage to clinch there - Gomez circles away.

Gomez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liouz, pushing him back against the cage.
Liouz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gomez fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Liouz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gomez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Liouz!
Liouz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Liouz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Gomez is pressing down on Liouz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Liouz is holding on for now.

Liouz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gomez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Liouz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gomez's back instead.
Gomez grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Liouz is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Gomez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Gomez tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Liouz in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Liouz moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gomez has worked his arm free - good work by Gomez!
Gomez takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
You can see the frustration on Gomez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Liouz wants to control but Gomez is keeping him busy.

Gomez tries to bench press Liouz off him but Liouz keeps the position.
Liouz landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Liouz lands a nice forearm strike.
Gomez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Liouz off and has taken his back!
Liouz tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Gomez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Cung Liouz's cut is getting worse.
Gomez scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Cung Liouz's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Cung Liouz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
