The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Downey closes the distance and clinches up with Rutt, looking for a takedown. Downey pushes Rutt against the cage but Rutt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rutt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rutt showed some decent athleticism there.
Downey moves into full guard.
Rutt content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Downey is looking to stand up but Rutt isn't so interested in that idea.
Rutt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rutt cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
