Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raiden Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Payne kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is False Pretense. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riley gets a takedown into half guard.
Payne is looking for a sweep. Riley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Riley scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Payne looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Riley pushes past his half guard into mount!
Riley lands a nice shot to the head.
Payne could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Payne is looking to get to half guard.
Payne is working hard here to advance position.
Riley trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Riley is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Riley wants to take a breather but Payne is having none of it.
Payne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Payne has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Riley is working away from the top position though.

Riley seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Riley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Payne's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riley postures up and lands a big shot to Payne's brow.
Payne wants to sweep but no luck.
Payne lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Riley!

Riley regains half guard.

Payne is working for a kimura but Riley is defending it quite comfortably.
Riley keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Payne stalling away here and it's allowed Riley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Payne drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Riley moves in looking to clinch but Payne pushes him off.

so Payne counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Payne drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Riley dives on top into guard.

Riley stands up and beckons Payne to join him on the feet.

and Payne counters with a shoot takedown. Riley fights it but they end up in guard.
Payneis looking to pass into half guard but Riley pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Riley is in guard.
Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Payne swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Payne isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Riley stacks Payne on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Riley!

Riley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Payne keeps working.
Payne is looking for a sweep.

Riley looks up at the clock and then as Payne takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Riley smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Riley lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Riley decides to stand back up. Riley steps back and let's Payne get back to his feet.
Riley tries to clinch but Payne moves out of range.

Riley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Payne tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Payne is trying to escape the position but Riley is controlling the position.
Payne is looking to regain half guard here but Riley keeps moving and retains side control.
Riley takes a little break here. Payne wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Payne tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Riley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Riley trying to control the position but Payne is working away.

Riley works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
A lull in the action here.
Raiden Riley has got the better of the ground game so far.
Payne tries to improve position but can't.

Riley has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Riley wants to clinch.
Riley just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raiden Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Payne has gone for a leg lock! Riley slips out almost immediately though and dives into Payne's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Riley passes Payne's left leg - he's now in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Payne drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Riley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Payne has Riley in his guard.

Payne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Riley lands a couple of digs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Payne is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Riley scores with a couple of nice shots.
Payne tries to roll over but Riley keeps him under control.
Riley is taking a breather. Payne says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well Riley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
