PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CT Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Turner's choice of entrance music: Throw it Up #2-Lil jon. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, CT Turner!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Turner with that takedown attempt.

Summers darts in and clinches Turner up against the cage.
Summers with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Turner wants a takedown.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Summers obliges.
Turner working hard to break the clinch.

Summers is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Turner has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Summers is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Turner to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Turner shrugs it off.

Summers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Turner is looking to escape.

Turner pushes Summers off looking to stand but Summers dives back in and keeps control.

Summers is trying to trip Turner. He has hold of a leg but Turner is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Summers persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Summers throwing strikes but missing.
Summers pushes down on Turner's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Summers moves nicely into side control.
Turner manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Summers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Turner is working away from the top position though.
Summers gets back to full guard.
Summers is trying to control the position but Turner postures up.

Summers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Turner defends well.
Summers throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Summers keeping moving, preventing Turner from controlling successfully.
Turner throws a big right hand that misses.
Summers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Summers moves into the clinch.
Summers lands a good knee to the midsection. Turner won't want to take too many of those.
Summers wants a takedown but no success here.

Turner drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Summers wants the takedown. Turner is fighting it off but Summers persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Turner's guard against the cage.
Turner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Turner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Summers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Summers won't allow Turner to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Summers won't allow Turner to sweep him here.
Summers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turner is keeping the position for now.
Summers sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Turner's guard.

Summers works his way into full mount!
Summers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Summers has control of Turner's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Turner regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Summers goes for an armbar but Turner turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Turner.
Turner wants to get up but he can't break Summers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Turner drops back looking for a leg! Summers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Summers manages to kick Turner off! Turner jumps back into Summers's guard.
Summers lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Turner!

Turner is squirming around, avoiding Summers's attempts to control the action.

Summers is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Turner can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Turner trying desperately to get to his feet.

Summers looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Summers tries to control but Turner wriggling away.

Summers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Turner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Summers with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Summers throwing strikes but Turner bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Summers is posturing up here but Turner has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Summers tries to roll out but it's too tight and Summers has to tap! Slick submission there by Turner!
