Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Marshall Mason has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joseph Steele! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason tries to clinch up. Mason takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Mason fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Marshall Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Mason looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Steele decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mason is trying to control but can't.
Steele wants to work for an arm triangle but Mason is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Steele trying to advance position but Mason counters by regaining guard. Steele wants to stand but Mason is controlling his posture from full guard. Steele is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steele trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Steele slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Steele thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason manages to work his way to half guard, despite Steele's best efforts. Mason gets back to full guard.
Steele looks gassed! Mason manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason lands a heavy elbow. Steele keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mason cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mason landing shots from mount. Mason stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Mason fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mason throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A punch combination from Mason misses. Mason misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No luck for Steele with that takedown attempt. Mason thuds a left hand into Steele's body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele tries to clinch but Mason moves out of range. Mason fails to land with a series of punches.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steele swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mason has managed to clinch.
Steele goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mason prevents it.
Mason breaks the clinch.
Steele keeps the fight on the outside. Mason swinging wilding here.
Mason jabs Steele right on the nose. Steele blinks but takes it well. Mason turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mason closes the distance and pushes Steele back into the cage. Mason manages to break the clinch.
Mason fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason throws a right and a left that Steele avoids nicely. Mason avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mason throws a hook to the side of Steele's head but Steele sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mason tries to clinch but Steele moves out of range. Mason tests Steele's chin there with a solid looking shot. Mason misses with a straight left. Mason fails to land with a series of punches.
Mason throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steele bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mason just misses with a punch to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Mason. Mason lands a high kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marshall Mason dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mason has his takedown stuffed and Steele counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Steele drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steele jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Steele postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mason is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Steele, into his guard. Mason decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Steele, up you get! Mason misses with a hook to the body
and Steele counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mason! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Steele goes for an armbar but Mason turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mason. Steele wants to sweep here but Mason controlling him for the moment. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Steele has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mason can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mason gets to his feet - Steele follows without any prompting. Mason lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steele circles away quickly and effectively. Steele drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mason regains half guard. Mason is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Steele passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mason!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steele takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Steele get's back to his feet. Mason doesn't succeed with the takedown and Steele counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Steele works a leg free and moves into half guard. Steele trying to control the action but Mason is working from the bottom. Mason gets back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele sitting in guard, not really doing much. Steele trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mason keeping full guard, as Steele tries to pass. Mason is pulling down on Steele's head to control his posture. Steele sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Mason doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Steele paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Mason - great work!
