Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Black! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuri Smchalenko! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smchalenko fails to land the takedown. Black really is a fat lump. Smchalenko fails with a takedown attempt. Smchalenko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Black. Smchalenko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. James Black has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Smchalenko. Black throws a series of punches but Smchalenko avoids them all with ease. Black throws a head kick that misses. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Black - that will leave a mark!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smchalenko. Smchalenko takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Smchalenko looks gassed! Left hook, right uppercut from Black. Black throws a quick inside leg kick. Black scoring well with a low kick there.
Black tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Black dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Smchalenko. That did some damage! Nice straight punches there by Black. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Black. Smchalenko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Smchalenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Black swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smchalenko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smchalenko preventing the sweep. Smchalenko wants to control from the top but Black keeps moving. Smchalenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smchalenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smchalenko pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Black is keeping the position for now. Smchalenko is pushing down on Black's leg trying to pass to half guard. Black is fighting to maintain full guard but Smchalenko has managed to sneak the leg through. Smchalenko is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Black sees it coming and defends easily.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smchalenko takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Black cracks Smchalenko with a good jab. Black misses with a head kick.
Smchalenko moves out of range of the body kick from Black.
Black punishes Smchalenko's body with a nice straight punch. Smchalenko looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Smchalenko in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Black tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Smchalenko!
