Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cao Pi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Drake has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Cao Pi's chin.

0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Drake! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Drake is fending him off so far but Pi persists. Nope, Drake circles away and we're back to standing. Drake looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Pi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Drake's half guard. Pi in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Pi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Drake some visible discomfort.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pi misses with a takedown attempt - Drake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Pi shoots for a double leg takedown but Drake sprawls well. He's pushed Pi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drake's waist but Drake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pi off to one side. Pi closes the distance and pushes Drake back into the cage. A short body shot lands from Pi as the two fighters clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pi lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Pi presses Drake against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cao Pi dominated that round. That's time! Pi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Pi rushes Drake and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Pi lands a right hand. A short uppercut from Pi. Drake stops a takedown attempt from Pi.
Pi has hold of one of Drake's legs. Drake is fighting the takedown attempt but Pi gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pi throws a big right hand that misses. Pi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pi postures up in Drake's guard and throws a big left but Drake blocks it. Pi chips away with some ground and pound. Drake is breathing heavily. Drake wants to stand and escape but Pi is having none of it. Pi throws a big right hand that misses.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Drake was covering up waiting for the punch and Pi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pi stands up over Drake, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Pi throwing strikes but missing. Pi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pi wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving. Pi working Drake over with strikes. Pi is nestled in close to Drake, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Drake blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pi. Drake is trying to get back to full guard. Pi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Pi throwing shots but Drake is blocking nicely. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Pi lands on the inside with an uppercut. Pi lands with a right to the head. Pi has picked Drake up - he's going for a ride! Pi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pi lands a nice short elbow. Pi looks to land a strike but Drake avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Steven Drake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cao Pi. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
