Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolai Vladimier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richie Maldoa! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maldoa tries to clinch there but Vladimier circles away.

Vladimier scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Vladimier is pressing down on Maldoa's thigh, looking to free his foot. Maldoa is holding on for now. Vladimier is trying to work for a kimura but Maldoa is defending well.
Vladimier is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maldoa keeps control of the position for the meantime. Vladimier is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maldoa kicks Vladimier off and gets back to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Maldoa. No joy for Vladimier on that attempt. Maldoa doesn't manage to clinch there - Vladimier circles away.
Maldoa tries to clinch but Vladimier is having none of it. Vladimier keeps the fight on the outside. The fight stays on the outside here - Maldoa looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Richie Maldoa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maldoa moves in looking to clinch but Vladimier pushes him off. Maldoa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Vladimier shoots in for a takedown but Maldoa shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicolai Vladimier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vladimier is breathing heavily. Vladimier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maldoa's waist but Maldoa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vladimier off to one side. Maldoa moves in looking to clinch but Vladimier pushes him off. Maldoa doesn't manage to clinch there - Vladimier circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Vladimier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maldoa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Maldoa is trying to control Vladimier's posture but Vladimier avoids it. Maldoa is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Vladimier has just dragged him back down to the mat. Vladimier goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Maldoa has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vladimier but great work by Maldoa. Maldoa stands up and we're back to a striking position. Maldoa lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Vladimier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Vladimier shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maldoa's guard. Maldoa keeping full guard, as Vladimier tries to pass. Maldoa keeping moving, preventing Vladimier from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vladimier slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Maldoa is trying to control Vladimier's posture but Vladimier avoids it. Vladimier is working to tighten is grip on Maldoa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maldoa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vladimier is really squeezing tight and eventually Maldoa passes out! Vladimier breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
