The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldoa tries to clinch there but Vladimier circles away.

Vladimier is pressing down on Maldoa's thigh, looking to free his foot. Maldoa is holding on for now.

Maldoa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Vladimier shoots in for a takedown but Maldoa shows good takedown defense.

Vladimier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maldoa's waist but Maldoa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vladimier off to one side.

Vladimier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maldoa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Maldoa is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Vladimier has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Vladimier goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Maldoa has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vladimier but great work by Maldoa.

Vladimier shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maldoa's guard.

Vladimier is working to tighten is grip on Maldoa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maldoa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vladimier is really squeezing tight and eventually Maldoa passes out! Vladimier breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
