1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Stenquist! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Williams. Stenquist throws a head kick but Williams moves out of range.
Rip Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Stenquist throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stenquist motions for Williams to come forward. Stenquist throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Stenquist tries to keep at a distance but Williams has taken the fight into the clinch. Williams jumps into guard, dragging Stenquist to the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stenquist stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard. Williams keeping moving, preventing Stenquist from controlling successfully. Williams looking for a sweep. Not yet Williams, not yet. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stenquist shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Williams has his feet on Stenquist's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Williams cracks Stenquist with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
It looks like Matt Stenquist has been cut. Williams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Stenquist counters with a nice double leg into guard. Williams is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Williams turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Williams manages to end up in side control. Williams is trying to get an arm triangle but Stenquist is defending well. Stenquist is looking to regain half guard here but Williams keeps moving and retains side control. Williams wants to control but Stenquist is keeping him busy. Williams is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stenquist knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Williams misses with a kick to the body and Stenquist counters with a head kick. That will keep Williams thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Williams, right into the meat.

Williams thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Williams tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Stenquist counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stenquist. Stenquist preventing the sweep. Williams manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stenquist manages to get himself to full guard.
Stenquist takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stenquist, up you get! Williams scores with a push kick. A head kick misses from Williams. Williams tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Stenquist counters with a nice double leg into side control. Williams won't be happy with that. Stenquist throws a strike aimed at the side of Williams's head but Williams avoids it well. Stenquist tries to get to his feet but Williams is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Stenquist in his guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams has control of Stenquist's left arm, preventing Stenquist from doing any damage. Williams is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stenquist is controlling him. Stenquist stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stenquist takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Williams is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stenquist's half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Stenquist's temple. Williams stands up out of the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stenquist takes a jab right on the kisser.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stenquist walks forward, straight into a front kick from Williams. Williams lands a front kick. Stenquist takes a body punch but keeps moving. Williams closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Williams unloads a knee to the mid-section. Williams crunches a lovely knee into Stenquist's ribcage. Williams unloads a knee to the mid-section. Stenquist lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Williams manages to break the clinch.

Williams pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Rip Williams is winning the standup battle so far. Stenquist takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Williams tries to clinch there but Stenquist circles away.
Stenquist throws a body kick the misses and Williams counters by moving into the clinch. Williams breaks from the clinch.
Stenquist gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that's the end of the fight! Rip Williams showed his dominance in that final round. I think Williams has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
