Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rich Jasper!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jasper tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.
Jasper tries to kick Smith off but Smith keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jasper won't allow Smith to pass to mount.
Smith prevents Jasper from improving his position.
Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jasper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Smith is trying to control. Jasper wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jasper tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.
Jasper looking for submissions off his back.
Smith frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Smith won't let Jasper get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Jasper working to try and regain half guard.
Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Jasper in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Smith landing punches.
Jasper is rocked!
Jasper tries to reverse the position but Smith maintains control.
Jasper is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith controlling his opponent.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jasper's face.
Smith drops a big elbow. That's hurt Jasper! More shots from Smith and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
