Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kelvin Shum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Fisher! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shum shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fisher as he jumps to the side. Shum closes the distance and clinches. Shum has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Fisher is trying to keep an underhook but Shum manages to get the takedown into half guard. Fisher wants to get back to his feet.
Fisher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fisher wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shum stops Fisher from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Shum swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Shum fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fisher, pushing him back against the cage.

Fisher goes for a takedown attempt but Shum pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shum controlling the position easily from mount. You get the feeling that Fisher really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shum unloading with bombs! Fisher taking shots to the head. Fisher is looking to improve his position but Shum isn't that keen on the idea. Fisher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Fisher tries to lock up and control but Shum gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fisher keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
