Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Baum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Valeriy Karpin! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karpin fails in his attempt to clinch. Karpin wants to clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Baum. Baum avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Baum shoots in but no luck this time. Karpin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Baum is trying to defend but Karpin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Baum preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Karpin is stalling here. Baum is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Karpin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Baum has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karpin is trying to improve his position. Baum wants to control but Karpin is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karpin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Baum trying to control the position but Karpin is working away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karpin can do anything to dispel that myth. Karpin tries to bench press Baum off him but Baum keeps the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Baum wants to clinch. Karpin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Baum counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Baum is trying to control the action in half guard but Karpin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karpin wants to get back to full guard. Karpin wants to get back to his feet.
Baum not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Karpin is doing well to control the position and prevent Baum from advancing to side control. Baum trying to control from half guard but Karpin is working away. Karpin is trying to escape back to his feet but Baum uses the scramble to pass into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Karpin is trying to improve his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Karpin misses with a takedown and Baum makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Valeriy Karpin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Karpin looks gassed! Baum sizes up Karpin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Karpin tries to land a body kick and Baum counters with a lovely straight right hand! Left hook, right uppercut from Baum. Karpin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Baum counters with a lovely straight right hand! Adam Baum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Valeriy Karpin. Baum fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karpin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Karpin closes the distance but Baum moves to the side enabling Baum to counter with a crisp jab. Baum circles away from the clinch attempt and Baum counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Baum. Baum pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Baum throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Karpin is rocked! Baum gets the takedown into side control. Karpin is still in real trouble! Can Baum finish him? Baum moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Karpin is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baum has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Karpin seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Baum fails to land a wild elbow strike.
A lull in the action here. Baum is looking to take a break and control but Karpin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Karpin is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baum decides to stand up, so the ref orders Karpin to his feet. Karpin fails with the takedown and Baum counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Baum throws a one two combo.
Karpin throws a sloppy head kick and Baum counters with a left to the body. Baum lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Karpin throws a combination that misses and Baum counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Karpin! Baum scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Karpin?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baum lands a big shot there that rocks Karpin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Baum can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karpin is looking to escape. Baum landing strikes from the mount. Baum with good strikes from the mount here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Karpin is squirming around, avoiding Baum's attempts to control the action. Baum looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adam Baum dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Baum lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Baum throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Karpin wants to clinch but Baum slips to the side and Baum counters with a nice uppercut. Karpin tries for a takedown but Baum circles away easily so Baum counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Baum forces his way into half guard. Baum with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Karpin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karpin trying to hold on to Baum's head to control him but Baum postures up.
Karpin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Karpin is in trouble now - Baum has advanced to mount! Baum landing punches. Karpin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Baum stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baum trying to control from Karpin's half guard. Karpin has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Karpin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Baum trying to control but Karpin is working from the bottom. Baum won't allow Karpin to sweep him here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baum not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Baum stands up from guard. Let's bang! Nice takedown defense from Karpin. No joy for Baum on that attempt. Karpin tries to clinch up and Baum counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Karpin is lucky that one didn't land flush.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baum fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Karpin gets off balance looking for a body kick and Baum counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Karpin looking for subs off his back but Baum has passed one foot through into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Adam Baum showed his dominance in that final round. Well Baum has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
