Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Hunter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Anderson! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Anderson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hunter prevents a takedown attempt there.
Anderson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Anderson manages to break the clinch.
Anderson closes the distance and clinches. Anderson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hunter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Matt Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Anderson. Anderson lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Matt Hunter has been cut. Hunter pulls guard. Anderson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hunter keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson content to stall in guard here. Anderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hunter's guard. Hunter is breathing heavily. Hunter wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Anderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Hunter tries to roll over but Anderson keeps him under control. Anderson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Anderson is stalling here. Hunter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Anderson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hunter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Anderson is trying to control Hunter's posture but Hunter avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom. Anderson wants to control but Hunter postures up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hunter shoots in and drives through. Anderson sprawls well. Anderson clinches up against the cage. Anderson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Hunter working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Anderson. Anderson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hunter's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson stands up and waves to Hunter to follow him. The fight moves into the clinch position. A head punch blocked on the inside by Hunter. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Anderson tries to pull guard but Hunter won't allow it.
Hunter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Anderson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hunter slowing the pace effectively. Anderson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josh Anderson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matt Hunter's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Anderson misses with a body kick. Anderson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anderson lands in his opponent's guard. Anderson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Anderson forces his way into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson controlling the action here. Hunter wants to improve his position but Anderson is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Anderson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Anderson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hunter trying to control but Anderson postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Anderson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Anderson's back! Hunter controlling the position well here. Anderson rolled but Hunter kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Anderson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hunter gets his way!
Hunter connects with a big shot to the side of Anderson's head.
Anderson is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Anderson needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation. Anderson tries to roll but Hunter sticks to his back.
Anderson breaks Hunter's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Anderson looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Anderson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hunter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Anderson wants to stand but Hunter is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josh Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Matt Hunter's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Anderson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hunter's half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Anderson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hunter did well to prevent Anderson getting side control. Hunter has one foot on Anderson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Hunter tries to sprawl out of it but Anderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hunter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hunter has his takedown stuffed and Anderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Anderson wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson postures up.
Anderson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hunter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Anderson has Hunter in his guard. Hunter drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Anderson dives on top into guard. Anderson is fighting to break Hunter's control of his arms but Hunter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson preventing the sweep. Hunter is trying to keep Anderson in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Hunter is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Anderson dives into side control.
Anderson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Anderson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hunter's shoulder. That is not cool. An elbow from Anderson crashes against the mat.
Anderson stands up and beckons Hunter to his feet. Matt Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Josh Anderson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Anderson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hunter is trying to defend but Anderson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
And that's the end of the fight! Josh Anderson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Anderson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
