Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between frank mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernesto Hoost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). frank mir could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ernesto Hoost's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, frank mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ernesto Hoost! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoost fails in his attempt to clinch. mir lands with a nice body punch. Hoost blocks the body kick.
mir shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hoost is trying to defend but mir finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. mir is looking to advance position but Hoost won't allow it. mir is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Hoost wriggles free and stands up. Hoost drives through and clinches with mir against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hoost lands a good knee to the midsection. mir won't want to take too many of those. mir turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and mir manages to end up in side control. Hoost is looking to work his way out of this bad position but mir is controlling him well. mir works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. mir controls the position. mir stands up. Hoost fails in his attempt to clinch. mir could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. mir shoots in for a takedown but Hoost shows good takedown defense. mir is looking to take this fight into the clinch. mir shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hoost defends it nicely. mir is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hoost is fending him off so far but mir persists. Nope, Hoost circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for frank mir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hoost clinches but mir breaks the clinch and mir counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! mir wants to stand and escape but instead Hoost has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. mir not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hoost takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Hoost controlling from the full mount. mir is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hoost controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hoost tries to control but mir wriggling away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hoost controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hoost tries to clinch but fails miserably and mir counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hoost's guard now. Hoost is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Hoost manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Hoost closes the distance looking to clinch and mir counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. mir fails with a takedown attempt. mir circles away from the clinch attempt and mir counters with a nice double leg into half guard. frank mir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. mir is looking to advance position but Hoost won't allow it. Hoost kicks off mir and gets to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hoost keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. mir looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. mir is trying to control the action in half guard but Hoost is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hoost tries to grapple but his opponent circles and mir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hoost won't be happy with that. The strikes coming from mir are missing the target in this wave of attacks. mir wants to control but Hoost is keeping him busy. mir is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hoost is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoost gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! mir throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Ernesto Hoost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. mir throws a head kick that misses. mir shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hoost but Hoost pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hoost darts in trying to clinch and mir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hoost won't be happy with that. mir tries for a kimura but Hoost is defending well. Hoost is trying to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hoost tries to clinch up but mir circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Hoost sprawls well. He's pushed mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hoost clinches up with mir and pushes him back against the cage. Hoost scores a nice knee to the body.

And that's the end of the fight! frank mir showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for mir, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
