Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gomes's choice of entrance music: Tropa de Elite - Tijuana. John Rock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes moves in looking to clinch but Rock pushes him off.
Gomes is looking to clinch but Rock is avoiding it.
Gomes wants to clinch.
Rock misses with a head kick.
Rock fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gomes sprawls well initially but Rock persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rock seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Rock has the hooks in. Gomes is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Gomes is trying to shake Rock off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Rock won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Gomes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rock keeps working.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rock looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomes is fending him off so far but Rock persists. Nope, Gomes circles away and we're back to standing.
Rock rushes Gomes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rock prevents a takedown attempt there.

Rock ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rock no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Gomes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rock tries to avoid it but Gomes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rock to the ground. Rock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gomes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Gomes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rock wants to sweep but no luck.
Gomes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gomes is looking to stand up but Rock won't let him.
Rock manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gomes tries to improve his position but instead Rock has taken his back!
Rock is not going to allow Gomes to sit and survive in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rock kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Rock will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Rock looks to land a combination but Gomes avoids it well.
Gomes tries to clinch there but Rock circles away.
Rock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gomes as he avoids it easily.
Gomes leaves Rock with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rock throws a head kick but Gomes moves out of range.
Gomes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rock circles away.
Gomes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rock fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gomes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
John Rock is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gomes wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Rock has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Gomes's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Gomes is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Rock!
