PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roy Bent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jussi Kantola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bent comes to the cage accompanied by Dropkick Murphys - Im shipping up to Boston. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Bent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jussi Kantola!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kantola shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bent defends it nicely.
Kantola shoots for a takedown but Bent saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kantola fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bent will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bent throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kantola.

Kantola is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bent defends well.

Kantola tries to free his leg and advance position but Bent is retaining full guard.
Bent manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kantola manages to get himself to full guard.
Bent throws and elbow that misses. Kantola uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bent's guard. Nice move by Kantola!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bent wants to stand but Kantola is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bent misses with a looping left.
Bent circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bent closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kantola counters with an inside leg kick.

Bent goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kantola turns into him and now he's in Bent's guard.

Kantola drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bent dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bent is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Kantola drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bent dives on top into guard.

A close second round but Jussi Kantola will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bent throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kantola counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kantola.

Kantola breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kantola misses with a takedown attempt

and Bent counters with a takedown into side control.
Bent throwing strikes but Kantola manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Bent tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kantola presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bent tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kantola looking to control but Bent is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bent wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kantola.
Bent tries to lock up and control but Kantola gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bent sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kantola wants to control but Bent is keeping him busy.
Roy Bent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kantola seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Kantola slips a nice elbow through Bent's hands, connecting with Bent's forehead.

Bent is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kantola off and has taken his back!

Bent has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kantola has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
