Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Choi Won Hyeong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uuno Turpa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uuno Turpa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Choi Won Hyeong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Uuno Turpa!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turpa lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hyeong shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Turpa sprawls well. Turpa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hyeong gets slowly back to his feet.
Turpa connects with a solid leg kick.
Turpa tries to clinch there but Hyeong circles away.
Turpa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hyeong sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Turpa misses with a takedown attempt

so Hyeong counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turpa can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hyeong trying to control but Turpa is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hyeong prevents Turpa from getting back to his feet.
Hyeong looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hyeong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turpa is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hyeong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hyeong trying to control but Turpa is working from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hyeong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Turpa tries to clinch up

and Hyeong counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hyeong.

Turpa keeping moving, preventing Hyeong from controlling successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hyeong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turpa is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hyeong darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Choi Won Hyeong dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Turpa misses with a few strikes there.
Turpa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hyeong counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Turpa!
Hyeong looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
You get the feeling that Turpa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hyeong connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Hyeong trying to control but Turpa is having none of it.
Hyeong looking to finish with strikes here!

Turpa is trying to stand up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Turpa has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Hyeong scores with punches from the back.
Turpa is breathing heavily.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Hyeong controlling the positon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyeong struggling to keep hold of the position.
Turpa controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Hyeong keeps control of the position easily here as Turpa tries to buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hyeong is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Choi Won Hyeong dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Turpa throws a series of punches but Hyeong avoids them all with ease.
Turpa throws a right and a left that both miss.
Turpa fails with the takedown

and Hyeong counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Turpa's guard now.
Hyeong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Turpa keeping full guard, as Hyeong tries to pass.
Hyeong slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hyeong thows a big elbow that misses.
Turpa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hyeong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Turpa's guard.
Hyeong trying to control the pace.
Hyeong trying to control from half guard but Turpa is working away.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Choi Won Hyeong just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Turpa misses with a takedown

and Hyeong counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Turpa's guard now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hyeong is standing up over Turpa. Turpa looks to escape but Hyeong dives into side control.
Hyeong controlling the position.
Hyeong tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyeong has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Turpa!

Hyeong looking for a guillotine from mount but Turpa is having none of it.
Hyeong takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hyeong has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Choi Won Hyeong showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hyeong, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
